CONNECTION, CAPRI, ITALY, 2014

It seems to me that the whole universe is interconnected in infinite ways. Without having studied the subject in depth, I am nonetheless fascinated by the theory of quantum entanglement — that when two particles interact, they remain linked no matter how far apart they are, their states corresponding instantly.

I see in this a metaphor for human relationships, memory, and the unseen threads that bind us. Albert Einstein said, “A human being is a part of the whole, called by us ‘Universe,’ a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest — a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.”

So ultimately, separation is only an illusion.

Il me semble que tout l’univers est relié de façons infinies. Sans avoir étudié le sujet en profondeur, je suis néanmoins fasciné par la théorie de l’intrication quantique — selon laquelle, lorsque deux particules interagissent, elles demeurent liées, quelle que soit la distance qui les sépare, leurs états correspondant instantanément.

J’y vois une métaphore des relations humaines, de la mémoire et de ces fils invisibles qui nous unissent. Albert Einstein a écrit : « L’être humain fait partie d’un tout que nous appelons ‘l’Univers’, une partie limitée dans le temps et l’espace. Il se perçoit lui-même, ainsi que ses pensées et ses sentiments, comme séparé du reste — une sorte d’illusion d’optique de sa conscience. »

Ainsi, au fond, la séparation n’est qu’une illusion.
